Quality Control and Assurance has been a popular and practical term in global commercial setup. In education sector, developed countries have been taken measurable steps for quality development and assurance. Keeping this fact in view, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Pakistan established Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and emphasized on establishing Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) in the public and private sector degree awarding institutions (DAIs). QECs are responsible for all functions at the universities for implementation of quality assurance / enhancement policies and improvement in all the discipline/programs. QEC consists of professionals and is directly headed by the Vice Chancellor.Realizing and understanding the importance of Quality Assurance, Ghazi University has established its Quality Enhancement Cell on 18th November 2015 for implementation of the quality improvement programs under the supervision and guidelines of the Higher Education Commission and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of HEC Islamabad.

The functions of QEC are:

1. Refining the quality of teaching and learning in each discipline by monitoring the performance of university faculty members through Teacher and Course Evaluation each fall/spring semester.
2. Reviewing the quality criteria/ standards of each academic degree program through Self-Assessment procedure comprising Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) followed by Implementation Plan and action taken by respective departments.
3. Implement HEC (QA) Polices and criteria’s for Plagiarism Policy, Faculty Appointment Criteria and Minimum admission criteria of MS/M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programs in order to build the public confidence in a way that the quality and standards pertaining to the award of degrees are being boosted, safeguarded and maintained.
4. Ensure the periodic Review & Revision of existing curricula with purpose to develop program specifications including knowledge, understanding and skills.

To develop procedures for following:

1. Approval of new degree Programs
2. Conduct of periodic Self- Assessment Report for each academic degree program
3. Ensure to obtain NOCs prior to launch of New PhD Programs and MS/M. Phil & Equivalent Programs
4. Accreditation of professional degrees falling under the purview of Accreditation Councils
5. M.Phil. and PhD program Review
6. Filling of online feedback surveys (=10) as per HEC policy
7. Preparing/Updating of UPR every year upto 30th June followed by the conduct of Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE)
8. Curriculum review
9. Approval of new degree Programs
10. Program specification
11. Qualification Framework
12. Ensure Display at PQR (Pak Qualification Register)
